These are exciting times.

August 06, 2018

This summer, we're rolling out some of the most exciting changes we've made to Nickelled in a few years. Alongside our spiffy new website (haven't seen it yet…? You should), these new services will form the basis of our growth through the rest of 2018 and into 2019.

What are they, you ask? Well… Here goes.

Launchers you'll love

One of the most commonly-asked questions we get about Nickelled is 'how can I open the guided tours for the users who land on my page?'.

Our answer used to be The Mission Dock, but now, we've made it easier than ever.

Using Launch Buttons, users can click on a tooltip that displays on the page to launch a specific guide to that element. Here's what the tooltip looks like, on our own site:

Of course, a new feature wouldn't really be ours unless it had some killer code behind it, and Launch Buttons are no exception. After they're clicked, they disappear, getting out of the way so the user can focus on the task at hand.

Don't want them to disappear? Just use a Custom Launcher, which can be morphed to fit any button shape and won't automatically disappear after clicking.

Finally, the new Mission Launcher can be used to display guides on a page as soon as the user lands. Like the Launch Buttons, it intelligently tracks who's seen it, and won't appear again after it's been viewed by a given user. Neat, huh?

A better editing experience

If you've visited https://make.nickelled.com recently, you'll have noticed that we've completely overhauled our non-Chrome guide creation experience. It's faster, more reliable and better at handling those difficult-to-capture page interactions (javascript popups, anybody?).

As part of the broader rollout of this technology to all users, we've also added it to our guide editing experience, meaning editing guides is even easier than it was.

Skipping between the different pages of a guide is now as easy as clicking a tab, and it's possible to move steps around far more fluidly than it was in the old interface.

Excitingly, the new editing experience can also import pure image files, meaning you can add steps to mobile screenshots or better support pages with complex Iframe structures. And of course, if you want to bring in pages from other guides, you can do that too, all in an interface that faster, smoother and more reliable than anything we've offered before.

Wondering how to make all these new tools work for you? Existing customers – drop us a note and we'll be very happy to help you get things set up. And if you haven't experienced the power of Nickelled for yourself, contact us via the Intercom widget at the bottom right of this post or book a demo using the link at the top of the page. We'll be delighted to speak to you!

These are exciting times here at Nickelled – thanks to all of the customers who've provided feedback on the development of the new features, because we couldn't have done it without you. We hope you enjoy using them – but don't get too comfortable, because we're just getting started!
